Longevity, fertility, and average eggs viability of parthenogenetic females of Cladomorphus phyllinus Gray (Phasmatodea - Phasmatidae)

The order Phasmatodea includes insects known as stick insects. In Brazil, few taxonomic, ecological or evolutionary studies have been published in recent years, the reason is related to number of researchers dedicated this particular group. Cladomorphus phyllinus Gray one largest Brazilian and perhaps most studied species country. It considered a phytophagous, generalist, feeds mainly on guava leaves (Psidium guajava), powder-puff (Calliandra sp.) Angico (Piptania sp.). Females reproduce sexual asexual manner, by production diploid daughters from unfertilized eggs (thelytokous parthenogenesis). absence records reproductive capacity virgin parthenogenetic females C. led us record longevity, fertility, viability ten specimens. results obtained were compared those found scientific literature for mated same species. fertility observed be much lower when females; however, longevity was longer than that recorded females.
